GitHub’s Objectives
GitHub’s primary goal for Universe 2024 was to create an immersive in-person experience that effectively showcased its brand, products, experts, and key partners.
The objective was not only to engage with enterprise customers but also to excite the broader software developer community. Tinsel played a key role in crafting this experience, ensuring every touchpoint reinforced GitHub’s identity.
Scaling the Experience
With the venue size expanding from 90 sq ft in 2023 to 360 sq ft in 2024, Tinsel helped GitHub take full advantage of the larger space.
The creative and production teams worked closely together, executing a seamless design process that allowed for value-engineered creative builds, ensuring an efficient use of budget while maximizing the event's impact.
Signature Sculpture & Festival Entrance
The Plaza Sculpture, a monumental focal point, set the tone for the event with its vibrant design, visible from every direction.
It exemplified the "Monuments of Progress" theme and provided a striking welcome to attendees. Similarly, the Festival Pavilion's entrance featured a glowing portal, drawing attendees into the heart of the event. Both design and production focused on high impact and safety, ensuring a smooth and memorable experience for all.
GitHub Central & Main Stage
GitHub Central served as the event’s vibrant core, showcasing products, partners, and technologies through an unfolding series of experiences.
Tinsel’s design incorporated elements like the intentional overlap of key pillars, creating a dynamic environment for interaction. The Main Stage was another highlight, where Tinsel integrated industrial design elements to enhance the atmosphere while maximizing seating capacity by 200%, all while reducing costs by 5%.
Creative Technology & Digital Engagement
Tinsel's focus on cutting-edge creative technology was critical in elevating the event experience.
By dedicating resources to a few large-scale installations, Tinsel helped GitHub bring its technology to life, engaging attendees in real-time innovation. In addition, the holistic approach to digital engagement, using systems to track attendee behavior, allowed GitHub to adjust programming on the fly, ensuring maximum impact and engagement throughout the event.
